Supporting Christian Children in Baghdad Through Education

Iraq's Christian community has endured centuries of hardship, but the past two decades have brought unprecedented devastation. Once numbering over 1.5 million, the Christian population has dwindled to fewer than 300,000 as families flee persecution, violence, and economic despair.

For those who remain — committed to preserving their ancient faith and heritage in the land where it was born — education is an act of courage. It is a declaration that they intend to stay, to build, and to raise a new generation rooted in their identity.

The Blessing Projects has partnered with a Christian school network in Baghdad to provide tuition scholarships, school materials, and teacher support. The program currently serves 162 children, many from families displaced from other parts of Iraq by sectarian violence.

The school serves not just as a place of learning, but as a community anchor — a place where Christian families gather, support one another, and pass on their faith and culture to the next generation.

"Every child who stays in school is a victory," says the school's director. "Every family that chooses to remain is a statement that we will not disappear."
